Abi and Andrew’s story began long before either of them realised where it would lead. They met back in high school through mutual friends, sharing the same circle, school years and all the usual chaos that comes with being teenagers. Andrew’s first impression of Abi was hard to forget, a girl in a giraffe onesie who was funny, a little unpredictable and unlike anyone he’d met before. Abi remembers Andrew as quiet, easy to be around and someone with surprisingly good taste in music. Their first date at Jimmy’s on the Mall came not long after, where Andrew, still jobless and funded by his mum, was doing his best to look like he had everything under control, until Abi ordered a steak and he realised he might not actually be able to afford dinner.
From there, it was the everyday moments that slowly became their story. Movie nights, beach trips, loud music in the car, dancing at home, cheering for the Broncos, sharing food and sending each other ridiculous videos that only the two of them could find funny. Along the way came bigger adventures too, including standing together under the Northern Lights and eventually moving to Far North Queensland for Andrew’s work. Then, during a Christmas and New Year trip to Finland in 2024, Andrew managed to pull off a proposal of his own. With snow-covered streets around them, he attempted to distract Abi with a very serious scientific experiment involving a water bottle buried in the freezing cold, while secretly trying to get the ring out of his bag. He eventually convinced her to do a little jump for a video, and as she jumped, Andrew got down on one knee. Somehow, she still didn’t see it coming.
Their wedding day at Alamanda Palm Cove was the perfect reflection of everything they’ve built together. With friends and family travelling from Brisbane and Melbourne, the day felt incredibly close-knit from the very beginning. There was plenty of sunshine, plenty of laughter, and, as you’d expect from a room filled with people who love these two, a lot of happy tears. From the ceremony to the quiet moments in between, you could feel how much Abi and Andrew mean to the people around them. Their relationship has always been about the simple things, laughter, support, good food, music, travel and showing up for each other, and seeing everyone come together to celebrate that was pretty special.
Abi and Andrew, it was an absolute pleasure being there to capture your wedding day. Here’s to everything still ahead, children, dogs, a home of your own, more adventures, more travel, plenty of good food and, hopefully, a lifetime of laughter together. And Andrew, one thing hasn’t changed: the toilet roll still goes over, never under. 🤍
