Some wedding days are grand. Others are glamorous. Jess and Michael’s was full of laughter, love, and heart. It was the kind of celebration that reminds me exactly why I love creating Melbourne wedding videography.

Their love story started on Hinge. Jess was living in Brisbane, Michael was on the Gold Coast, and their first date was a beachside coffee at Palm Beach. Jess forgot to let Michael know when she left Brisbane, which meant she arrived early. When he showed up—yelling “I’m here” with a mullet, a moustache, and plenty of energy—Jess had no idea this moment would lead them to their wedding day in Melbourne.

Originally, they were set to marry on the Gold Coast in March 2025, but Cyclone Alfred had other plans. Rather than let the momentum fade, they decided to bring the celebration to Melbourne. They chose the iconic Rupert on Rupert in Collingwood—a venue with warm interiors, lush greenery, and the perfect moody winter vibe. As a Rupert on Rupert wedding videographer, I can say it’s one of the most visually rich venues to film in, and it fit their style perfectly.

Michael proposed at Inskip Point on a sunrise walk with their puppy, Maverick. Jess noticed his heart racing and thought maybe he was still feeling the effects of the night before. But no—he was about to propose. It was quiet, personal, and so very them.

Their wedding day was filled with emotion and intention. They shared a first look before the ceremony, just the two of them. Michael’s reaction when he saw Jess in her dress was everything. And Jess’s vows? Heartfelt, personal, and unforgettable.

Family was at the centre of everything. Jess’s uncle, who is also her godfather, officiated the ceremony. It was one of those moments that really sticks with you.

After all the formalities, the energy turned to celebration. They made sure their nieces and nephews got time on the dancefloor before heading home, and then the party truly began.
